TimberTech
Turning the Inside
Out with Decking
Although the use of decking in domestic gardens is a relatively
modern idea, timber decks have been used for style and
practicality for hundreds of years. Some of the country’s most
iconic structures; from seaside piers to railway platforms have
incorporated decking in their construction.
Adding decking to a garden not only establishes a focal point
but it effectively creates an extra room from which to enjoy
good weather. The space, if well designed, can form a seamless
link
between the house and garden and can be an integral part of
both.
Modern
designers are increasingly incorporating decking into their
plans for new homes and renovations. Where the conservatory was
the must have improvement of the 80’s the experience of bringing
the outdoors indoors has now been extended to literally
incorporate the garden. Gone are the days of hexagonal glass
houses, with architects opting instead to open their doors, and
walls, to the outside world.
The popularity of Bi-Fold doors has enabled designers to think
of the room and garden as a whole, eliminating barriers such as
end windows and door frames. With the right construction, entire
corner sections of a room can be replaced allowing maximum
access and light.
By combining internal and external flooring the perception of
the space is extended making a real difference to smaller
conservatories, extensions and even balconies. To ensure the
whole concept works perfectly, it’s essential to use high
quality materials that extend flawlessly from one area to the
next.

Whilst there is a plethora of high spec’ internal timber and
composite floorings available today
there are few that match their performance, style and durability
in more demanding external areas. This has led to much
scientific research and testing within both the external
landscaping and construction industries, to find a product that
has the resilience to withstand British weather, without
compromising on appearance.
Wood composites invariably come top in these tests, with
TimberTech in particular, outperforming all timber and other
composite products. The results are unsurprising as
TimberTech has been perfecting production since the company
pioneered wood composite materials over 15 Years ago, so all the
permanence and continuity issues that newer companies are now
encountering were
overcome by TimberTech years ago.
The distinction can also be attributed to TimberTech’s
special blend of recycled American hardwood and polymer, which
gives its decking product unrivalled safety, durability and
stability. It even incorporates an ‘anti-slip’ finish which
makes it ideal for wet weather or even for use around pools and
hot-tubs.
TimberTech is the perfect option to create that unspoiled
progression from interior flooring because it utilises the
patented ConcealocTM system so the whole area is not only simple
to install, but has
almost
no visible screws.
TimberTech resists sun and water damage - even in coastal
settings. This means that it doesn’t split, rot, crack, warp or
splinter. The product’s resilience means that TimberTech
is perfect for those who want to spend time enjoying their home
rather than maintaining it.
Unlike timber, it’s resistant to mould, moss and mildew so the
only attention required is a jet wash once a year, and it
doesn’t need to be replaced – an assurance backed up by the
company’s 25 year warranty.
